Accrediting Association of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACUP) is the registered accrediting agency of the state universities and colleges in the country. The agency assessed the course programs based on the following areas of accreditation: Mission, goals and objectives; Faculty; Curriculum and Instruction; Support to students; Research; Extension and Community Involvement; Library; Physical Fitness; Laboratories; and Administration.
Last October 23-24, 2012, the following programs had its Preliminary Survey Visit: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Master of Arts in Education, Master in Public Administration and Master in Business Administration. The visit is the initial step in preparation to First Survey Visit. However, the same areas of accreditation were evaluated except for the actual visit to the community, where extension programs were utilized, and interview about the awareness of the people from nearby community on the course programs’ aim and objectives. Meanwhile, Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism had already conducted its First Survey Visit last November 21-23, 2012.
Most of the universities and colleges in the Philippines seek accreditation for it signifies prestige and quality of the programs offered by the institution. According to AACCUP website, “Accreditation is viewed as a process by which an institution at the tertiary level evaluates its educational activities, in whole or in part, and seeks an independent judgment to confirm that it substantially achieves its objectives, and is generally equal in quality to comparable institutions.”
Currently, the campus is preparing for the First Survey Visit of the business and education programs.
