A proof of labor is indeed evident as URS-Antipolo Campus recently wins in Street Dancing Competition and literary contest during the 12th Foundation Anniversary of University of Rizal System last August 13-14 at URS-Rodriguez Campus.
It was a back-to-back victory for URSAC after bagging the championship title in this year’s Street Dancing Competition; last year the campus also won the same spot. The raw talent of the students led the victory as they were instinctively selected to represent the campus in the competition. The music were arranged by the students using the drums, lyre, and the gong, which adds ethnic serenity to the beat used in the performance. An alumnus of the campus’s dance troupe helped for the choreography. Dr. Lolita Garcia and Prof. Edward Andrecio, the advisers of Hiyas ng Rizal Dance Troupe, headed the street dancers.
On the other hand, participants in the literary contest also won places in extemporaneous speech, slogan making, and essay writing. Cristile May Suelan, a fourth year BSBA-HRDM student, won 1st place in extemporaneous. During her speech, she highlighted that the success of the students is the success of the university. She added that the university should prepare the students by honing them to become prepared in the real world. Carmina Sua, a freshman student from College of Hospitality Industry hit 2nd place in Slogan Writing Contest. Her winning slogan is “MOLDING VERSATILE GRADUATES THROUGH ATTAINING A WELL-DEVELOPED UNIVERSITY.”
Lastly, Narcylene Benzonan, a 3rd year BSBA-HRDM student, made it on the 3rd spot in Essay Writing English Category. In her essay entitled “The Pursuit of the Legitimate Ambition” she said, “Out of the acronym of the university, the U.R.S., are thoughts that an ambitious person should have: Universally competitive, Realistic on achieving goals and Socially responsible and excellent in performing tasks.”
The winners together with the other representatives of the campus, namely, Allan Villacruz in Poster Making English Category and Mary Jane Magtaos in Essay Writing Filipino Category, were the winners in campus literary contest held last 13th foundation day of the campus. Their trainers are Mrs. Eloisa M. Bayangos, Mr. Norberto M. Natano, and Ms. Roselyn Dela Cruz.
On the other hand, in Mr. and Ms. URS, Mr. Lemuel Berango bagged the award as Mr. Friendship and Ms. Rachel Marsy Diego as Ms. Photogenic, as Ms. Fashion Exchange and as 3rd Runner Up.
The campus also participated in Musical Contest, and Hip-Hop Dance Competition.
